2016 Mazda2 Fuel Economy Review

In Europe, the Mazda2 can also be specified with a frugal 1.5-liter SkyActiv-D four-cylinder turbo diesel. This being the United States, a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline-fed lump will have to suffice.

When paired to a 6-speed SkyActiv-MT manual transmission, the 2016 Mazda2 is able to return an EPA-rated 31 mpg city (7.5 l/100 km) and 42 mpg (5.6 l/100 km) highway. Opt for the 6-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission and things get even better what the stick shift can manage.

Stay tuned to hear more details about the version of the 2016 Mazda2 destined for the U.S. market, though it is not likely to change much from the global car that debuted last year (pictured). The new Mazda2 displays Mazda’s Kodo design language and will be sold here only in five-door hatchback form, though the aforementioned Scion iA is essentially a Mazda2 sedan.

The 2016 Mazda 2 should also make impressive leaps inside the cabin, starting with a new infotainment system controlled by a dial-button array in the center console and a dash-mounted color display. Smartphone integration and navigation will also be available through the Mazda Connect suite of apps and connected services.
