Dodge Challenger R/T and SRT8 models will enter the 2013 model year with the addition of two new exterior colors: Plum Crazy and HEMI Orange combined with full-length dual center stripes. Dodge also offers a series of updates for both the exterior and the interior.
Dodge's 2013 Challenger R/T, R/T Plus, R/T Classic and SRT models will also be available in HEMI Orange, with those cars set to land in showrooms sometime in May.Prices for the retro-colored Challengers will range from $29,995 to $44,775, excluding a $995 destination fee. The appropriately-themed Challenger R/T Classic will list from $33,995.
Base SXT models get the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 instead of the available HEMI V-8s, but that really isn’t too much of a compromise these days. The V-6 versions still produce 305 horsepower, but come only with a five-speed automatic transmission. The combination is good enough to get the SXT version from 0-60 mph in under seven seconds, while returning an acceptable 27 mpg highway fuel economy.
Speaking of transmissions, it should be known that the manual found in the 392 is no five-speed, but a six-speed TR-6060 Tremec unit with a dial-disc high performance clutch - the same one tested to the limits in the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10.
