PT SAIC General Motors Wuling (WulingMotors) finally officially launched the Cortez CT turbo engine and CVT transmission some time ago.
The presence of a new variant of the competitor of the Toyota All New Kijang Innova indirectly complements their MPV line up in Indonesia.
However, the presence of the turbez CT turbo engine indirectly raises questions about the continuity of the Cortez 1.8 and 1.5 variants which have been launched by Wuling Motors.
Responding to this, Dian Asmahani, the Brand Manager of WulingMotors, emphasized that he would still sell Cortez 1.8 in Indonesia.
There is no intention of Wuling Motors to inject dead Cortez 1.8 variants in the country.
"Gini, if we see now consumers have started many choices and preferences are very, very diverse today," said the woman who is familiarly called Dian, Monday (4/22/2019).
"Our goal is to release this variant (Cortez CT) to expand the market, not to turn off the one with the other," he added while in the Sentul area, West Java.
Dian added, he also did not have the intention to present Cortez 1.8 and 1.5 with the choice of CVT transmission as pinned on Cortez CT.
"Embedding a turbo engine with CVT in our medium-MPV, that means there is a family segment that needs a powerful and responsive engine," Dian said again.
"This is once again to expand its consumer segment, there is a consumer segment that Cortez wants with a turbo engine and CVT transmission that we have not been able to fulfill before so we are currently fulfilling it," he concluded.
