New Car2Go to launching electric

New Car2Go to launching electric Daimler's car2go car sharing service kicked off in Ulm, Germany in October 2008 before expanding to Austin, Texas in 2010. Earlier this month, Hamburg, Germany, became the first city with more than a million inhabitants to see the introduction of the car2go service, but the second won't be far behind with a launch set for Amsterdam before the end of the year.

Unlike Zipcar, Car2Go’s model is looking to be much simpler. Whereas Zipcar requires members to pick up and return cars from the same location, make reservations and pay by the hour, Car2Go members can rent vehicles by the minute without reservations and drop off the vehicles at designated points throughout the city.

The launch of an all electric vehicle fleet marks a new era in carsharing in North America,” said Nicholas Cole, President and CEO of car2go N. A. LLC. “San Diego is a forward-thinking city determined to meet future transportation demands of its residents. Our goal is to complement the existing transportation infrastructure by providing an emission-free carsharing service for short and spontaneous one-way trips.

ECOtality is currently installing approximately 1,000 publicly available Blink charging stations throughout the San Diego region as part of The EV Project. Data collected by the charging stations will be analyzed to better understand how EV drivers charge their car, and help to guide future rollouts of commercial charging stations.

New Car Bmw Mini Coupe Prices $22,000

New Car Bmw Mini Coupe Prices $22,000 Mini has released official photos and pricing for the 2012 Mini Coupe slated to go on sale this fall. Prices range from $22,000 for the base model to $31,900 for the raciest version. The new photos follow the release two weeks ago of stylized prototype images.

The Coupe will be offered with three different engines—a 1.6-liter four-cylinder producing 121-hp, a turbocharged 1.6-liter producing 181-hp, and a John Cooper Works version producing 208-hp from its turbocharged four cylinder. All engines will come with a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic. EPA fuel economy estimates are not yet available.Mini claims the base Coupe will accelerate 0-60 mph in 8.3 seconds; the S Coupe is expected to clock in at 6.5 and 6.1 seconds for the John Cooper Works edition.

As for the specs and new features of the 2012 Mini Coupe we don’t have the full details yet. Like what mentioned, only leaked images were discovered. As you can see, the new Mini Coupe sports a weird-looking camouflage which actually hides the retractable spoiler in the trunk. This concept is not new at all although it wasn’t revealed during the Mini Coupe’s concept design back in 2009.

The basic Mini Coupe comes with standard electric power steering, dynamic stability control and park distance control. Among the options are adaptive headlamps and dynamic traction control with electronic differential lock control.

Notable optional equipment includes xenon headlights, adaptive headlights, automatic climate control, and automatically dimming rear-view mirror and electric exterior mirrors. Entertainment options include Bluetooth, USB audio interface, and connectivity functions including web radio, Google search and Send to Car services, RSS news feeds, and in-car use of Facebook and Twitter.

How use taxi ford natural gas car

How use taxi ford natural gas car The next time you hail a taxi, you could be jumping in to one that runs on compressed natural gas (CNG). Chicago and Los Angeles are now the two latest cities to roll out Ford Transit Connect Taxis fueled by CNG.

In Chicago today, Taxi Medallion Management will put 12 Ford Transit Connect Taxis powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) into service as part of an event celebrating the increased presence of CNG in Chicago. A CNG Ford Transit Connect Taxi will participate in the opening of a new Clean Energy CNG filling station and natural gas advocate T. Boone Pickens will speak at the event after arriving in a CNG Transit Connect Taxi.

The Chico Transit Connects feature a 2.0 liter I-4 engine that gets an estimated 21-26 mpg. It boasts a 30% improvement in fuel economy over traditional taxis, a 138 cubic feet cargo capacity, and 1,600 pound payload.

The Transit Connect Taxi was developed using market research we conducted with the taxi industry to better understand what customers wanted in a future vehicle, Gerald Koss, marketing manager at Ford Fleet Operations, said in a press release.

The more conversations we had, the more interest we saw in a taxi with the flexibility of offering a compressed natural gas version. For the average driver, logistics trump price, and the relative lack of CNG refueling stations in the United States has made the fuel a nonstarter. Honda has been producing the country's only CNG vehicle, the Civic GX, since 1998, but only to customers in California, Utah and, more recently, New York.

The result is a national fleet in the hundreds, and drivers and alt-fuel activists who have interpreted Honda's rejection of would-be buyers, based on their access to fueling stations, as a full-blown conspiracy to limit CNG adoption. With its new Transit Connect engine-prep packages, Ford is avoiding any such accusations of Machiavellian handicapping, by skipping the awkward step of foisting an unfamiliar infrastructure on private consumers, and instead marketing the vehicle directly to taxi companies and state and local authorities.

2013 MINI Cooper Mule Feature

2013 MINI Cooper Mule Feature This ugly little duckling covered in what looks like oil stains might not seem all that important, but it’s actually a test vehicle for the next generation of MINI Cooper. This is the first time a prototype of the new model has been seen out in public, and we can see the car is growing a bit.

Spy shots of a prototype for the new third-generation modern MINI Cooper 2013 reveals a more aggressive, louder styling of the upcoming Mini. It is expected go on sale in line with the regular Cooper trim in spring of 2012.On this third-generation mule of the Mini Cooper S, it seems like nothing too radical is going on the outside except for the shell. Its overhangs look like.

The basic Mini shape is intact here, the doors look to be identical to the second-generation car there's some suggestion of a rear door based on the camouflage cutlines, but we think this is little more than a half-hearted sleight of hand. And judging by the forward-mounted front brake calipers, Mini is sticking with the whole front-wheel-drive thing.

The testers pushed the cars on a slalom course and generally put them through their paces. According to our source the three cylinder was noticeably louder with a very pleasing rumble on acceleration. Compared to the sound of the current 4 cylinder it almost seemed as if MINI has tuned the exhaust note to make you feel the car is going faster at low speeds than it really was.

After several runs back to back it became obvious to our source that the three cylinder MCS didn’t quite have the initial launch of the four in the current MCS. Specifically it lagged in the middle of first gear just a bit.

Picture Sebastian Vettel The Winner Monaco grand Prix

Picture Sebastian Vettel The Winner Monaco grand Prix won at Monaco while Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso finished second with Button in third. The Monaco street circuit is one of the most difficult tracks to overtake but with the new DRS rule, an exciting race was definitely on cards. DRS sure did make the race more exciting but much of the entertainment was provided by the mid-fielders. Some of them escaped with minor bumps and scratches on their million dollar machines while other more unfortunate ones, totaled their cars.

Amidst the chaos, Vettel, Alonso and Button were able to keep out of trouble as the trio lapped one car after another. Hamilton was in his usual mood and muscled his way past Schumacher in the 0penning stages of the race. A similar move on Massa resulted in a collision with Hamilton being awarded a drive-through for being too aggressive. Eventually, Massa ran wide near the tunnel exit and crashed into the barrier ending the Ferrari drivers race.

The Monaco GP once again proved that the three-way influence of rapidly-wearing Pirelli tyres, KERS and DRS have turned Formula One on its head and is providing consistently exciting races.

Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) made up for the humiliation of being lapped last weekend in front of his home fans in Spain, by finishing second, with early race leader Jenson Button third - three world champions on the podium.
Mark Webber, who won at Monaco last year, set the fastest lap of the race - 1'16.234 - on the final lap to finish fourth and was followed by Kamui Kobayashi (Sauber) and Lewis Hamilton (McLaren).

11th-placed Kobayashi was lapping two seconds faster than Buemi and Heidfeld ahead of him and would surely be moving further up the leader board.
Lap 20 Positions
1 Vettel
2 Webber +3.6
3 Alonso +6.2
4 Hamilton +18.3
5 Rosberg +20.6
6 Massa +20.9
7 Button +24.1
8 Petrov +28.0
9 Heidfeld +28.9
10 Buemi +31.6

Rosberg was off the pace and had been overtaken by three cars. Massa attacked on lap 20, but the German managed to fend off the Brazilian for another lap. Massa got past on the next lap and while Rosberg was pre-occupied, Button came in to attack too. Rosberg defended bravely and forced the 2009 world champion wide, but Button just drove around him on the outside of Turn 14 to emerge into the main straight on fifth place and close behind fourth-placed Massa, as team mate Hamilton was the first of the front-runners to pit a second time for fresh tyres and emerged in tenth place.

The Lotus Elan Concept

The Lotus Elan Concept combines a muscular physique with perfect poise. True to the Lotus ethos add speed, add lightness', the Elan is designed to deliver a thrilling driving experience with stunning style.

The company didn’t offer an official reason for this, but tried to find a “politically correct” way of explaining it. The carmaker told Car and Driver that it will give the Evora “a more traditional life-cycle”. We’ll remind you that the Evora was only supposed to be an intermediate step that would create a pathway between Lotus’s former and new identity. Thus, the vehicle was supposed to be replaced by the Elan in 2013.

Power for the Lotus Elan comes from a 4.0L V6 engine making 450-hp. Mated to a 7-speed transmission and weighing in at 2,489 pounds, the Elan runs from 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds while hitting a top speed of 193 mph.

Lotus Elan concept is a 2 seater (optional 2+2), mid-engined, rear wheel drive car and weighs 1,295kg with its CO2 emission at 199 g/km. The concept car has an elegant cockpit and flaunts awesome flat-bottom and flat-top steering wheel. It’s got a plenty of carbon fiber treatment and high-tech goodies, including digital race track readout for track days.

Like the Evora, the Elan features 2+2 seating, suggesting that the new Evora may not really have a long life at Lotus. Prices for the production Elan are estimated to start around $118,500.

The Elan is slated for production in 2013, and it appears to be farther along than Lotus’ other cars, as interior images were released as well.

Lotus seems to be really staking their claim with the new Elan. Other than perhaps Elise, we could see this being the biggest seller in the new Lotus lineup.

Opel Astra GTC Launching U.S

Opel Astra GTC Launching U.S The last time that the Opel Astra hit US shores, it dropped its regular badging for some Saturn ones. Needless to say, that didn’t go all that well, but General Motors is willing to have another go at it with the newest model reportedly being considered as a wolf in Buick clothing.

According to Car and Driver, the big General wants to introduce the three-door Opel Astra GTC under the Tri-Shield brand, giving customers a more thrilling alternative to the Verano sedan with which it shares its platform.
The GTC is pretty much confirmed for the US, but a convertible could also make its way over that will be based on the same Delta platform as the Astra and Verano. Although it will be based on the same mechanicals as the Verano, Astra and Cruze, it's expected to get its own distinct styling. The new convertible is expected to launch as an Opel in late 2012, but it remains to be seen if it will come here as a Buick.

The Astra GTC offers practically the same space and everyday suitability as the five-door model. With a compact rear that underlines its long, 2.61-meter wheelbase, the GTC offers the same luggage compartment volume (380 liters) as the five-door Astra. The rear seat backs can be folded down (standard 60:40 or optional 40:20:40 split) for more flexible use of interior space. Even though the designers snugly pulled in the side windows to give the body-shoulder more tightness, two adults can comfortably travel in the rear.

The dynamics of the new Astra GTC's looks turn into action on the road, thanks to the IDS chassis (Interactive Driving System) with ESPPlus, the optional IDSPlus adaptive chassis system with electronic damping control (CDC) and the networking of all electronic chassis systems. In addition, the GTC driver can activate a sport set-up at the touch of a button (SportSwitch) that regulates damper adjustment as well as accelerator-pedal and power steering response. In conjunction with automatic and Easytronic transmissions, gear shift points are modified for a sportier driving style.

Navistar Defense Gets $183M

Navistar Defense announced today it has received a new $183 million delivery order from the US Marine Corps Systems Command for 250 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) International MaxxPro Dash ambulances with DXM independent suspension. This complements last week’s $13 million delivery order for MRAP field service representatives, instructors and mechanics, with work to be completed in Kuwait.

The ambulances will be a modified version of Navistar's mine-resistant, ambush-protected trucks, or MRAPs, already used by the U.S. military in Afghanistan and Iraq. The heavily armored trucks are designed to withstand blasts from roadside land mines, the leading cause of U.S. casualties in the Middle East conflicts. The ambulances will be outfitted with an independent suspension system to make them maneuverable in Afghanistan's rugged, mountainous terrain.

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, is being awarded an $18,800,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-06-C-2303) for additional class services associated with the detail design and construction of the Zumwalt-class (DDG 1000) destroyer. This work will provide technical and industrial engineering in the interpretation and application of the detailed design to support construction and the maintenance of a safe and operable ship design. Work will be performed in Bath, Maine, and is expected to be completed by July 2011. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
The MRAP ambulances feature a litter-assist system to allow medics to easily move stretcher-bound patients into the vehicles. The ambulances will be assembled at Navistar's West Point, Miss., plant and the order is expected to be completed by the end of September.

Illinois-based Navistar has built more than 8,000 of the armored trucks for the U.S. military since 2007. The company expects sales of military trucks, parts and service to total about $2 billion this year.

2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse SE Review

2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse SE Review |The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution XI may have been saved from the chopping block, but at least one Mitsubishi sports coupe is on its final dregs and will soon ride off into the sunset. For the record, the Eclipse, has been one of our favorite Japanese sports coupes in recent times so it goes without saying that we’re pretty bummed out that the line will officially end after the 2012 model year.

Mitsubishi claimed that all Eclipse trim ranges (GS, GS Sport and GT) will be available there as SE Special Edition variations which includes “SE” side decals, black side mirrors and 18-inch dark finish alloy wheels, along with the excessive-end standard features available on the Eclipse GS Sport versions of both the coupe and convertible models.

The 2012 Eclipse Coupe SE and Spyder SE are essentially Eclipse GS-Sports with special SE decaling, a revised exterior with special paint and 18-in. dark alloy wheels. Creature comforts include heated leather seats with a power driver, a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, a Rockford Fosgate premium audio system, and a sunroof for the coupe model.

Powering the special edition models is the 2.4L SOHC MIVEC four-banger that’s good for 162hp and the 3.8L SOHC MIVEC V6 that’s good for 283hp. Unfortunately, both the four-banger and six get automatic transmissions: four cogs for the four and five for the six.

The most affordably-priced version of the Eclipse remains the GS Coupe model. No-cost features include a 6 speaker 140-watt AM/FM/CD player with MP3 playing capability and an auxiliary audio input jack, air conditioning, 6 airbags, dual exhaust, blacked-out roof, 18-inch alloy wheels and automatic shut off headlights. The Eclipse GS Coupe comes equipped with a 5-speed manual while a 4-speed automatic transmission is available as an option.

1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante

1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante | As Royal wedding fever was about to wear off, the Prince had one last surprise in store. For many years his Father has been the owner of an Aston Martin DB6 Mark II that was converted to run on biofuel. The car was decorated in traditional wedding fashion complete with ribbons, balloons, and a trick license plate reading Ju5t Wed. The dark blue Volante convertible was driven by the Prince through the crowds in front of Buckingham Palace on his way to a reception party. The car traveled down the procession route with top down and minimal security. A lone Range Rover followed the Aston and a RAF Rescue helicopter, much like the ones flown by the Prince, flew above with a flag waving below.

Other new features included split front and rear bumpers, a redesigned oil cooler opening in the front valance and a higher roof. Like before the Vantage spec option could be ordered which added a V to the chassis number. One of the desirable options was factory air conditioning which used two vents on the rear parcel shelf. Other options included power-assisted steering and a full-length Webasto sunroof.

The engine was almost identical to the DB5 unit having twin overhead camshafts and triple SU carburetors that produced 282 bhp.

In 1969 the Mark II version of the DB6 was launched with flared wheel arches and revised seats.

The DB6 Mark II was announced several years after initial production in 1969. It is defined by new flared wheel arches on both the front and the rear of the car. These help to accommodate wider wheels and tires that increased the handling of the car. In 1966 Aston introduced the convertible version and called it Volante. It was the first time Aston Martin would use this now classic Italian term to denote its convertible models. The rarest of all these cars was the Vantage Volante version, for which only 29 examples exist.

Semper Vivus Lauching to Porshce Museum

Semper Vivus Lauching to Porshce Museum | As part of the new special exhibition "Ferdinand Porsche - Pioneer of the Hybrid Drive”, the sportscar maker’s museum in Stuttgart is presenting a reconstruction of the first workable full-hybrid car in the world, the “Semper Vivus”. The special exhibition, which begins on May 10, will provide visitors with a fascinating glimpse of the early engineering creations of the young Ferdinand Porsche.

Porsche says it was the first fully-functional full-hybrid car in the world, created and built by Ferdinand Porsche in 1900. Through a meticulous process, Porsche's present-day engineers have made as near an exact recreation of the car as possible. It will be housed in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart after the show.

The teaser video below gives you an idea of what to expect. The full details on the recreation process will be revealed next week. Also joining the Semper Vivus on the stand will be the recently unveiled Panamera S Hybrid.

Porsche press release :
* Porsche presents first functional, full hybrid car in the world, the Semper Vivus, 111 years after its World Premiere in 1900. http://origin.porsche.com/uk
* Recreation of ground-breaking car will make its debut on March 1 at Geneva Motor Show
* View the film at porsche.co.uk/origin
* European debut of 918 RSR concept underlines ‘Porsche Intelligent Performance’ philosophy

But Porsche is being as cryptic as possible in the press release here so it could be that an altogether new hybrid vehicle will be debuting next week alongside the European premieres of the 918 RSR hybrid race car concept, the 330 PS (243 kW / 325 bhp) Cayman R, the limited series 911 Black Edition based on the 345 PS (254 kW / 340 bhp) 911 Carrera, and the Boxster S Black Edition.

The 911 Black Edition will be limited to just 1,911 units while the Boxer S Black Edition will get only 987 units made.

Bi-Fuel Propane System Enter U.S

Bi-Fuel Propane System Enter U.S | We already knew that Icom North America, an alternative fuel solutions provider, plans to bring a liquid propane injection technology with potential environmental and fuel economy advantages to the U.S. automotive aftermarket for about a year, but we can now say for sure when that is going to happen, as the company has just confirmed the move will take place this year.

Icom's new JTG-Dynamic System enables vehicles to run on either diesel fuel or a 50/50 mixture of liquid-injected propane and diesel fuel.

The company can now convert applicable Ford 6.8 liter gasoline engines for E-250, E-350 and E-450 platforms covering model years 2010 and 2011 for propane and gasoline (or bi-fuel) use. Most end users of this technology will be commercial fleets of ambulances, shuttle buses, flatbeds, cutaways and cargo vehicles.

Since 2004, Icom North America has been supplying its patented JTG liquid-injection propane mono-fuel systems to leading bus, truck and commercial vehicle manufacturers in the US.We offer engine system solutions for fleets of all sizes, including: taxi and livery, law enforcement, state, county and municipal vehicles and other high mileage vehicles.

Bi-fuel engine system benefits include:
• Lower fuel costs
• Cleaner emissions
• Increased travel range
• Fewer Oil Changes
• Extended Engine Life

Jasper Alternate Fuels, a division of Jasper Engines & Transmissions of Jasper, Ind., will be the first to install the JTG-Dynamic System on diesel vehicles. Jasper has over 55 installation centers across the U.S. to perform both LPG and CNG conversions on vehicles.

"The industry has been looking for a unit like this that can provide an increase in power and torque plus a 50 percent reduction in diesel-fuel expenses," says Ed Zoglman, manager of the Jasper Alternate Fuels Division. "Our customers are looking for fuel savings and cleaner emissions. This system has both."

2012 Chevrolet Malibu ECO Review

2012 Chevrolet Malibu ECO Review |Next to the 2013 Malibu, Chevrolet also brought at the New York Auto Show the Eco version, a model that comes equipped with new fuel-saving eAssist technology. The new Eco version will be sold next to the Malibu LS, LT and LTZ version starting the summer of 2012.

The 2013 Malibu is Chevy’s latest efforts in creating more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly cars and is one that will be sold in 100 additional countries next to the US of A.

Power comes from a basic 2.4L Ecotech direct-injection four-pot paired with an electric motor-generator that prides itself as being only 65 pounds, which is an impressive feat. All of that power is transferred through a new six-speed automatic. The result is a total of 180 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque from the four-banger with an extra 15 hp available from electric power assistance during heavy acceleration.

The eAssist mild-hybrid Eco model doesn't look appreciably different from the standard 2.5-liter range, despite registering 26 mpg in the city and 38 out on the highway. Alterations include 17-inch wheels on low rolling-resistance tires, four underbody shields that cover about 50 percent of the vehicle's dirty bits, as well as model-specific side mirrors and the expected badging.

Inside, more Camaro influence can be seen thanks to items like the 'squircle' gauges. Materials are noticeably richer than before, and high-end detailing like contrasting ice blue stitching on the LTZ's leather seats and increased ambient lighting lend the cabin a more premium aura.

Malibu ECO is among the first in the midsize segment with a fuel-saving, active shutter system in the lower grille. The Malibu ECO’s active shutter system automatically closes airflow through the lower intake opening when air intake is least needed. When closed, the shutter system enhances aero performance by redirecting airflow around the front of the vehicle and down the sides, rather than through it. The shutter is open or closed based on engine coolant temperature and speed. For example, the shutters open when the car is traveling up a hill, pulling a trailer, or in hot city driving; the shutters close at highway speeds when engine cooling is less required.

2011 Volvo S60 R design

2011 Volvo S60 R-Design comes with a range of specially developed design details both outside and in. On the outside the Volvo S60 R-Design have an imposing redesigned front with a grille painted in glossy piano black. The sporty stance is further enhanced with colour-matched body components, details in matt special finish and a hexagonal pattern that is repeated both front and rear. Distinctive twin exhaust tailpipes and unique five-spoke 18-inch Diamond cut wheels emphasise the sporty overall appeal.

Under its performance line, R-Design, the Swedish automaker gave their resident sedan a welcome change on both its looks and engine output. Together with the XC60 R-Design, the S60 R-Design made its debut at the New York Auto Show and is set to go on sale later this summer.

To improve handling, Volvo engineers installed a strut brace, shorter springs (which reduce ride height 15mm), and stiffer bushings (20% firmer than the standard model). On top of this, they also added monotube rear dampers and Corner Traction Control which uses torque vectoring to reduce understeer. The R-Design package will be available with a variety of engines including everything from the 115 bhp (86 kW / 117 PS) 1.6-liter D DRIVe to the 304 bhp (227 kW / 308 PS) 3.0-liter T6.

The S60 concept featured a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a dual-clutch automated manual transmission; the pair should be in production shortly, but it’s unknown if the small four would make it to this side of the Atlantic in the S60. The production car will, however, get the concept’s pedestrian-detection technology, which will fully apply the brakes if it detects you’re going to make a Swedish meatball out of someone in the crosswalk. Other features of the S60 concept that are candidates to make it to the real car are a second-gen radar cruise-control system, lightweight composite body panels, and a grille shutter than can close to reduce aero drag.

New Cars 2010 Jaguar XK

New Cars 2010 Jaguar XK ranks 5 out of 9 Super Luxury Sports Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 75 published reviews and test drives of the Jaguar XK, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

For example, the new XK has received a set of all-new headlight units that are not only slimmer (by 15mm) than the ones they replace but now feature subtle LED daylight running lights alongside intricately styled reflector units.

These sit above a new, larger oval grille framed in chrome with mesh in the center that, in the case of the XKR, is finished in black. Mounted either side of the grille are a pair of small air scoops feeding air to the brakes

Jaguar attempts to make the cabin tech interface as lovely as everything else, but ends up with a menu system that looks like 1990s Web design. This interface, built on Adobe Flash, slides menu buttons in from the left side of the screen, slick animation that ultimately proves more spectacle than practical.

We found ourselves having to drill down through multiple menus to choose music from a connected iPod, place a phone call, or enter a destination in the navigation system, too frequently pulling our attention from the road. There is also a voice command system, but it only offered the basics, not sophisticated enough to let us dial contacts by saying a person's name or choose music.

The XK can be ordered with 18-, 19-, or 20-inch wheels. A navigation system with a seven-inch LCD touch screen is standard. Other features include front and side airbags, stability control, Burl Walnut or satin-finish Poplar trim, and keyless entry and start.
Options include a 525-watt Alpine premium sound system, Sirius satellite radio, soft-grain leather, a leather-wrapped instrument panel, and a heated steering wheel.

2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 Review will be produced in Canada. This sedan will be developed with Electronic Stability Program, ABS with emergency brake assist, and two-stage front airbags with passenger weight sensors, etc. The elective safety features are ultrasonic rear object detection, self-sealing tires, Xenon HID headlamps, and rear/front side air curtain bags. Coming to towing capacity, this vehicle can tow up to 3800 Lbs.

The 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 is going to make its debut today at the 2011 New York Auto Show. The new model features a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine capable of developing 465 horsepower and 465 pound-feet (630 Nm) of torque. The power increase over the old model is 40 hp and 45 lb-ft (61 Nm) of torque. The transmission available for the model is a five-speed automatic and in the near future, the automatic gearbox will be fitted with paddle shifters to allow drivers to shift some gears.

The 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 also features an Adaptive Damping Suspension (ADS) system that is tuned for a comfortable and direct ride. The ADS system uses a wide range of on-road and driver inputs – such as vehicle speed, steering angle, steering speed, brake torque, throttle position and lateral and vertical accelerations – to automatically tune the suspension for specific conditions when necessary.

However, even with these elevated power numbers, an estimated 25 percent fuel economy increase on the highway is expected thanks to a new for 2012 active valve exhaust system that allows the standard Fuel Saver cylinder deactivation technology to engage over a wider rpm range. The new active exhaust system also allows for straight-through mid and rear mufflers for a throaty exhaust note under engine load.

Rolls-Royce Ghost Long Wheelbase feature

Rolls-Royce Ghost Long Wheelbase feature China is the market for extended-wheelbase variants and Rolls-Royce has introduced the new Ghost Extended Wheelbase edition at Auto Shanghai today.

The wheelbase of this stretched Ghost is 170 mm (6.7 inches) longer than on the standard model and good for twice as much knee room, says Rolls-Royce

An extended-wheelbase motor car was planned in the early days of the Rolls-Royce Phantom project. Indeed, an aluminium space frame chassis was chosen precisely because it lends itself to structural adaptation with relative ease. This ability to create coach-worked models, to meet the individual needs and desires of Rolls-Royce customers, is something that has been central to the marque throughout its 100-year history. The standard Phantom body is already the largest automotive aluminium space frame ever constructed while the new extended wheelbase model adds nearly 10 inches.

The extra length with this new motor car is achieved simply by using longer extrusions in the construction of the body. Conventional extended-wheelbase cars are often built by cutting them and welding in extra metal - not so with Rolls-Royce. As a result of this approach, none of the Phantom's torsional rigidity is lost, so the outstanding dynamic performance and driving refinement of the standard length motor car are maintained.

The powertrain should remain unchanged, which means a 6.6-liter turbocharged V-12 engine matched to a ZF 8-speed and delivering 563 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque will be lurking under the hood.

In addition to the new long wheelbase model, both coupe and convertible versions of the Ghost are due to hit the streets in the next couple of years but their development is not guaranteed. Rolls-Royce will be unveiling concept versions of the cars first to gauge customer demand. Another model potentially in the pipeline is a gasoline-electric hybrid version.

New cars Volkswagen Amarok

New cars Volkswagen Amarok The British division of Volkswagen revealed today technical specifications for the new cars Amarok, a serious contender for the pick-up market. The vehicle comes available in two engine variants, a 2.0-litre TDI developing 122 PS and 340 Nm of torque from 1,750 rpm, and a 2.0-litre Bi-turbo TDI developing 163 PS and 400 Nm from 1,750 rpm. All models are fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Taken separately, 122 PS engine can achieve 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 13.7 seconds, while the 163 PS unit reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in 11.1 seconds.
Size-wise, the VW Amarok is 5 254 mm long, 1 944 mm wide and 1 834 mm high, giving it a slightly stockier appearance than its competitors. Importantly though, the Amarok features the largest load area in its class, at 1 555 mm long, 1 620 mm wide and 780 mm high – enough space to accommodate most items, up to a maximum weight of 1 150 kilograms. Further practicality comes from the bakkie’s maximum load width of 1 222 mm between wheel wells, which allows enough space for a Euro-spec pallet (1 200 mm x 800 mm) to be loaded for the first time on a mid-size bakkie. The load-bed also includes four tie-down points on either corner, a 12-volt power socket, as well as a rear-facing light – integrated with the high-level brake-light – that conveniently illuminates the load area.

The interior of the new VW Amarok bakkie is well laid out. All Amarok models are equipped with height adjustable front seats; variable folding rear bench seat; load bed lighting; electrically operated windows and side mirrors; radio/CD-player; air-conditioning; cruise-control and front fog lights. The ‘Highline’ models feature added luxury in the form of automatic climate control and an improved sound system, while exterior highlights include 17-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, partial chrome covered side mirrors and various other chrome accents inside and out. Head, leg and shoulder room are ample, while various storage trays – including under the front seats – provide the practicality associated with a bakkie. The interior materials are of good quality and solid build. The dashboard, for example, has been fashioned from hard and durable plastic, instead of the soft-touch type found in the new Polo and Golf – the Amarok is built tough. A small, but significant feature is the steering wheel, which is adjustable for both height and reach – convenient for fitting behind the wheel after a hearty Sunday roast at the neighbours farm.

2011 Ford Mustang Review

2011 Ford Mustang Review is one of those rare cars that runs on history and tradition – that’s what happens to cars when they’re instantly successful. And that’s certainly the case for this American icon, which saw almost a million units sold in the year following its launch at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York.

But more important, perhaps, is that the supercharged truck engine stuffed under the GT500’s hood added weight to the front end of a car that was already nose heavy. The last Shelby we tested was more than 300 pounds heavier than a GT, and almost all of those extra pounds were over the front axle. Much as we enjoyed the 2007 to 2010 Shelbys, we didn’t like the way they overworked their brakes or understeered. They liked entering corners about as much as a pig enjoys being measured for an open pit. Plus, their engines suffered from heat soak during track work and wouldn’t produce full power during lapping sessions.

At first glance, the news in the engine bay isn't all that promising. It's still a 5.4-liter supercharged and intercooled V8 backed by a six-speed manual transmission. Peak power climbs just 10 hp from 540 to 550 thanks mostly to a increase in exhaust-pipe diameter from 2.5 inches to 2.75 (The larger pipes reduce back pressure). Torque remains at 510 lb-ft, but it occurs 250 rpm lower, at 4250. A larger intercooler has also been added, for more consistent performance.

Likely the most significant option change for the GT500 is the SVT Performance Package, giving the GT500 a track-ready performance pack from the factory. This package includes specially developed Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G: 2 tires, a higher rear axle ratio, stiffer springs, lighter wheels and cosmetic changes for both the coupe and convertible. Ford attributes a 3.0-second lap time savings over the outgoing coupe on the 2.3-mile test track.

Ford has also lowered the GT500 by 11 millimeters up front, and 8 millimeters out back for improved handling. SVT says it added slotted brake dust shields to help improve brake cooling and handling, as well as a new pedal box with is aimed at improving clutch and pedal efforts.

Mazda's new SKYACTIV-G Review

Mazda's new SKYACTIV-G Review display at the 2011 Canadian International AutoShow. Making its debut is the 2012 Mazda3, which, in addition to receiving a facelift, will also offer the option of Mazda’s new SKYACTIV-G petrol engine and SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission when it is launched in Canada later this year. This initial application of Mazda’s SKYACTIV engine and transmission technologies – the first time they will be employed in a production vehicle – will realize higher torque at low- and mid-range engine speeds resulting in better drivability with less fuel consumption in everyday driving.

The first application of Mazda's new SKYACTIV-G gasoline engine combined with SKYACTIV transmissions will debut in the 2012 Mazda3 later this fall. Nearly one of every three Mazdas sold worldwide is a Mazda3, which, refreshed for 2012, receives the SKYACTIV powertrain as well as a refined interior and exterior design and new safety features.

In addition to the new powertrain updates, the 2012 Mazda3 receives reworked front and rear bumpers with a redesigned front grill, fog bezels and front headlamps. Newly designed 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels round off the cosmetic changes for the 2012 model.

Environmentally conscious and/or frugal American Mazda lovers can only cross their fingers and hope that this new car will eventually make its way stateside with its extra-European fuel economy, with any luck their wishes may come true.

New Cars 2012 BMW M5 Concept

New Cars 2012 BMW Concept M5 in Munich, Germany to a select number of journalists. Reportedly, the private showing included cars held at the BMW M facility garage in Garching. Of those cars, the new Cars BMW M5 was showcased along with a few other gems such as an E46 M3 Touring edition (M3 wagon), lightweight M3 sedan and a M8. Of course the big surprise during the private event was the BMW M5 which everyone had only seen partially wrapped in camo until now.

Despite being a technically labeled as a concept car, the New Cars 2012 Bmw M5 Concept is expected to become the precursor to the production version that will be introduced later in the year, possibly at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The capability to reach that speed comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8. It's basically the same engine used by the New Cars X5 M and New Cars X6 M, in which it makes 555 hp. In the M5, that total is likely to increase.

This engine will make the New Cars M5, after the two M SUVs and the 1-series M coupe, the fourth car to deviate from the former and now-obsolete M gospel of high-revving naturally aspirated engines. As consolation, M GmbH development chief Albert Biermann hints that the turbo V-8 will rev beyond 7000 rpm, and BMW promises a 25-percent increase in fuel economy over the 8200-rpm V-10 in the previous M5.

Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an electrically controlled active differential developed especially for the New Cars M5. The suspension and brakes also are exclusive to the New Cars M5. The American interest in an honest-to-clutch-pedals manual transmission forced BMW to build the last-gen M5 with a stick, and this time around, we will be the only market to get the option of a six-speed manual.

Audi R18 Review

Audi has officially put its new R18 Le Mans racer and all nine of its factory drivers through their paces. The pair of closed-cockpit Audi bruisers and one last-generation R15 TDI spent some time lapping Sebring as part of preparations for this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans. Each of the cadre of pilots was able to get some seat time in all three vehicles. Interestingly enough, Audi has made it clear that the R15 "Plus Plus" will campaign alone at this year's 12 Hours of Sebring. Audi typically uses the venue as a dry run for new hardware before showing up in France.

Recognizing that aerodynamic efficiency will be even more important at Le Mans than it was in the past, the new R18 marks the first time since 1999 that Audi will contest the world’s oldest endurance race with a closed coupe. Unlike that of the closed Le Mans prototypes, which consisted of two halves, the carbon fiber monocoque chassis of the R18 features a single-component design that reduces weight and increases stiffness.

Fortunately, Audi was kind of enough to post a couple of videos of the Sebring testing, complete with action shots of their LMP1 racer run roughshod on the race track. On top of the two-minute R18 action-fest, there’s also another video featuring no less than Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, the brand’s motorsport head, giving us the low-down behind the car, including the decision to go for an all-new 3.7-liter V6 diesel engine with the R18.

Audi is planning to field three Audi R18 cars at Le Mans, which will be entered by Audi Sport Team Joest, the most successful Le Mans team of all time. In addition, Audi Sport Team Joest will contest the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC), consisting of a total of seven endurance races on three continents (including the Le Mans 24 Hours) with two cars.

chevrolet cruze price

The new-to-America Cruze is Chevrolet's latest small car and comes powered by either a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter four-cylinder, or a 1.4-liter turbocharged Ecotec four-cylinder both with the choice of either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.

The turbocharged engine puts out 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft. of torque and should be capable of up to 40 mpg on the highway. The 1.8-liter puts out 136 horsepower and 123 lb-ft. of torque

The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze replaces Cobalt as the compact car from General Motors' volume division. Cruze is a 4-door sedan that comes in LS, LT, LTZ, and fuel-economy-oriented Eco trim levels. LT models are subdivided into 1LT and 2LT. The LS has a 136-horsepower 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine. The 1LT, 2LT, LTZ, and Eco use a 138-horsepower turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on the LS and Eco. A 6-speed automatic is optional on those models and standard on the LT and LTZ.

The Cruze Eco showed no signs of lag, and off-the-line performance was strong. The same goes for highway speeds, with the added note that the engine is very quiet. GM applied 18 distinctive acoustical treatments to ensure the Cruze rides free of most engine and road noise. Manual shifts were seamless with quick gear engagement in all shifting scenarios. The split between ride and handling was even. The Cruze is agile, but not particularly athletic—while the ride is comfortable, although not cushy.

Designed to go head-to-head with the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Ford Focus, when it comes to cabin and cargo space the Cruze Eco is the clear leader. Passenger volume is 95 cubic feet, besting the Honda Civic’s 91 cu. ft., the Toyota Corolla’s 92 cu. ft. and the 93 cu. ft. in the Ford Focus. Trunk volume, at 15.4 cubic feet, dwarfs the Civic’s 12.0, the Corolla’s 12.3 and the Focus at 13.8.

Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid Feature

The Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid powerplant marries an Audi-built, supercharged 3-liter V6 and an eight-speed automatic with a disc-shaped electric motor mounted internally. Electric energy is stored in 155 pounds worth of nickel metal hydride battery pack stored under the rear cargo floor.

The 2011 VW Touareg Hybrid is a full hybrid, capable of traveling up to one mile—and at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour—in all-electric drive mode. Total output will be a 380 horsepower and a maximum 428 pound-feet of torque. The Touareg’s Hybrid setup also features a coasting capability that disengages the engine from the transmission when the driver releases the gas pedal when traveling at high speeds.

Klaus Bischoff’s VW design team has tweaked and toned the original 2003 Touareg. They’ve extended the wheelbase, won a bit of legroom in the back, and have honed the lines and bodywork with a sleek, athletic look. The only bits of bling are the ridiculous LED daytime running lights, but fortunately you can’t see those when you’re driving.

The console also holds a dial with on- and off-road settings. The Touareg Hybrid comes standard with four-wheel drive, a completely automatic system that defaults to a 40 percent front-60 percent rear torque split. But switching it to off-road mode merely adjusts the traction control and drivetrain programs; the Touareg Hybrid's conventional suspension sits at a fixed height.

Going over rough country roads, the car felt very capable, absorbing big bumps easily without too much cabin rocking. Volkswagen says the Touareg Hybrid has a ground clearance of 7.9 inches and can ford water to a depth of 19.7 inches. Driving through some sections of flooded roads created by recent California storms, the Touareg Hybrid plowed through, sending water spraying off to the sides.

The new Ferrrari FF Review

The new Ferrrari FF Review happens to be in your future acquisitions list, then you should try the configurator Ferrari has just placed online for it. However, we should warn you, no matter what color you choose, the car won’t look any better.

The FF has an odd hatchback-shape, designed by Pininfarina.Ferrari’s patented four-wheel-drive weighs 50% less than a conventional four-wheel-drive system, maintaining a rear-biased 47:53 weight distribution. Inside, the rear seats fold down to make more luggage room. It can accommodate four people.

The FF's calling card is a new 6,262-cc, 65-degree V12, with direct gasoline injection, fully variable valve timing, graphite-coated pistons and 12.3:1 compression. The engine generates a peak of 651 hp on 93 octane, precisely at its 8,000-rpm redline, with 504 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm. That's about 103 hp for each of the six-plus normally aspirated liters of displacement. Yet Ferrari claims that, thanks to direct injection, friction reduction and low-drag accessories, its new V12 reduces specific fuel consumption nearly 25 percent compared with the old one. These are good times.

The transmission is an update of Ferrari's F1DCT dual-clutch automanual with seven speeds. The FF will be offered in North America with an economizing HELE option, which adds low-e, brushless fan motors, an economy-oriented transmission-control mode, a more efficient air-conditioning compressor and a start-stop feature. Ferrari says it can improve fuel mileage by 2 percent to 3 percent.

Ferrari has always been popular in the GCC, especially in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Expect to see the 2012 Ferrari FF on the streets of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, or more likely doing rounds in Jumeirah, although it likely won’t sell as much as Ferrari thinks it will sell.

2011 chevrolet volt Price

2011 chevrolet volt Price comes in a single form, a five-door hatchback, similar in size to the Toyota Prius. More precisely, the Volt measure 177 inches long, making it a little shorter than the current Cobalt.

The electric drive unit (utilizing a 220-cell, 16 kWh lithium ion battery) will put out 150 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of torque and will top out at 100 miles per hour. This powertrain allows the vehicle to travel 40 miles on electric power only, while for longer trips, the Volt's generator will kick in to provide for additional range.

Seating is perfectly comfortable, though it only seats four, not five, because of the massive battery hump running down the middle. The rear hatch offers plenty of room for various cargo. I loaded up stuff from the hardware store easily and carried passengers both front and back without complaints. In fact, everybody liked it.

The first thing I’d change on this car is that inane sound it makes when you get in and push the button--it’s a sort of Spaceman Spiff whooshing noise that is supposed to be all futuristic and high-tech, which annoyed the hell out of me immediately. After more than a week with it, I’d be baseball-batting that plasti-dash to make it stop. I might even go so far as to read the owner’s manual to see how to deprogram it, but that was more effort than I wanted to make for my three-day loan. The electronic gauges are all over the place. There is so much data available with this car. But the “Range” gauge is pretty obvious, and that was the one I was eyeing during my loan.

The Volt has an MSRP of $41,000, but the federal government offers a $7,500 tax credit that helps make the net cost to consumers $33,500. Chevrolet is also offering leases on the Volt for $350 per month for 36 months with $2,500 due at signing.

Feature 2013 Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe

Feature 2013 Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe was looking to expand its market to include the younger population and they decided that the best way to do that was to offer a C-Class Coupe alternative. That project led to the birth of the CLC whose success in the market was more lackluster than bedazzled. Now, Mercedes C63 AMG is at it again with a much more simple approach to meeting the needs of the younger generation. This simple - in the best sense of the word - vehicle is the C-Class Coupe, and Mercedes is even taking a stab at an AMG version.

The new C63 AMG Coupe will join the current AMG Coupe and will be put on sale this July in Europe, while on the US market sales will begin in September 2011. The first units will be sold as the "Edition 1" and will be offered with exclusive equipments.

But the biggest mystery Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe raises among fans is related to what will it host under the hood. Some information leak revealed that the C63 AMG Coupe will share the same V8 engine with his Sedan brother, which lead us to think about of a tuned-up version of it to equip the future Black Series car. In the SL65 AMG Black Series for example, the maximum power was increased from 525 HP to 650 HP, thing that makes us hope to an increase from 450 to 575HP.

To look like their four-door brethren, coupes feature their own bodykit with 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in staggered high performance tires. At the rear, the automaker’s signature, bellicose AMG performance exhaust system takes center stage.
Inside, a special AMG steering wheel, high-performance seats with larger bolsters and special gauges mark the new model. Leather seating surfaces are optional, while a high-grip composite upholstery called Dinamica will be standard. Designed to be extremely breathable and “pleasing to the touch,” the material is also notable for its low-emissions production process. Mercedes-Benz says it is aimed at track-oriented users who don’t want the slippery feel of leather.

Mercedes C63 AMG Black Review

Mercedes C63 AMG Black will be fitting the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe with a variant of the premium automaker's 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8, according to a report by Inside Line.

The Black Series models are all about being more aggressive and more powerful than the standard C63 AMG version. Expect to see a new rear diffuser, quad AMG-style pipes, and also a sportier interior with lots of carbon fiber and aluminum insertions.

The 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8, as seen in the S63 AMG with the AMG Performance Package, is tuned to produce 571 PS (420 kW / 563 bhp) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. But in the next C63 AMG Black Series Coupe total output may even sprint past the 600 PS mark, although Mercedes-Benz has said in the past that its AMG models will be given more towards weight-saving and efficiency-tuning than to engaging in horsepower wars.

In the CLS63 AMG, this V8 delivers a complete of 518 HP, but is to C66 AMG you do not design to obtain more than 420 HP. Top speed will be paltry to 155 mph, but increase the elective AMG Performance Package and you could simply obtain to at least 180 mph.The C55 AMG has been specifically combined to give the BMW M3 Coupe a run for its money.

The M3 is powered by a V8 engine with 420 HP and has a 0-60 mph scurry time of 4.5 seconds. We envision that if BMW doesn’t take a few sort of action soon, it might start losing lots of customers to the future C55 AMG.

2011 Artega SE image

2011 Artega SE German automaker, Artega, unveiled their latest work, the Artega SE, at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, showing the promise of what a German electric sports car could look like, as well as giving the US-based Tesla and their pride and joy, the Roadster 2.5, something to think about.

At this past week’s 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Artega has unveiled a new, greener version of the GT dubbed the Sports Electric, or SE for short. Instead of featuring a mid-engine layout, the new Artega SE ditches the gasoline V-6 in favor of two zero-emission electric motors mounted on the rear axle. They provide a combined output of 380 horsepower and can operate independently for better traction.

Two electric motors on the rear axle with a total output of 280kW (380 horsepower) give the car its powerful thrust. These two operate independently, with each driving one of the rear wheels. The Artega SE accelerates from zero to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds (4.8 seconds with a combustion engine). Unlike the combustion engine, the electric engines transmit their power linearly and immediately, with no delay. The maximum velocity is well over 250km/h.

Electricity comes from a 37 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack with a nominal voltage of 350 V. Range of the Artega SE is 300 km (186 miles) on the European test cycle (NEDC - New European Driving Cycle) but the automaker says a more "comfortable" driving style (read: realistic) achieves a range of 200 km (124 miles). A full charge of the batteries can be had in 90 minutes at a high-powered charging station.

The Artega SE weighs in at 1400 kg (3086 lbs), about 100 kg (220 lbs) less than the GT model but sports an identical weight distribution of 57:43 biased toward the rear axle.

Lamborghini Aventador Review

The Lamborghini Aventador just made its debut a couple of days ago and already artists are at work rendering a different version of the sports coupe. What we’re looking at is an Aventador roadster version, and we like what we see. Don’t get too excited though; an actual production roadster version isn’t expected until 2014.

Lamborghini had three Aventadors on display, ranging from the bright orange example we first saw in the studio photos to a more subtle grey and a stunning matte white. The white, in particular, shows off the various styling elements of the exterior, especially the muscular creases on the front and sides. Despite having more complex lines, the Aventador still manages to have a cleaner look than some of the later generation Murcielagos. We snagged a few minutes inside, and the quality of materials is proof that Lamborghini is continuing to benefit the Volkswagen Group's influence.

The Aventador sports an all-new 6.5-litre V12 engine weighing in at just 235kg which produces 700bhp, 509lb ft and the ability to transport the carbon-fibre bodied, scissor-doored supercar from 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 217mph. Since you're asking, the whole thing weighs 1,575kg - lean, for a two-door instrument of shouty oversteer.

The Aventador gets Lambo's new ISR transmission, claimed to be faster and ‘more emotional' than a dual-clutch system. We hope ‘emotional' doesn't refer to randomly breaking out into Opera or weeping hysterically at traffic lights. Those 700 horses trumpet through the box to all four wheels with an electronically controlled Haldex coupling distributing forces front and rear.

Review Porsche RUF RT12 R

Review Porsche RUF RT12 R

RUF Porsche Roadster is a result of a modification carried out by Alois Ruf and his team which is inspired by a 1967 Porsche Targa.

So when RUF introduced their latest tuning work on the Porsche 911 Turbo at the Geneva Motor Show, a lot of people caught notice. And once again, the German automaker delivered the goods. Lots of it.

Significant features include a higher front fender for both aerodynamics and aesthetics. Like the RT12 S the R has a wide rear with additional air inlets. The ceramic brake discs measure a diameter of 380mm front and 350mm rear. The forged aluminium wheels have central locking and size 9J x 19 front and 12J x 19 rear. The rims are outfitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres, 245/35 ZR 19 front and 325/30 ZR 19 rear.

The interior of the 911 GT2 RS also exudes sporting performance in virtually every detail. Lightweight two-piece bucket seats made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic are standard, as are lightweight door panels with fabric straps instead of traditional door handles. The basic interior color is black, which contrasts with red elements, such as the seat center sections, the roof lining and segments of the steering wheel rim. The gearshift and handbrake lever are also finished in red alcantara.

Volkswagen's Bulli history includes two legendary vehicles, the Beetle and the Type 2, or Microbus. As it revived the Beetle some years ago, the company takes a look back at the Type 2 in a new concept called Bulli. That name comes from the common German term for the Type 2.

The Bulli hearkens back to the Type 2 in its general shape, color scheme, and large VW emblem mounted on the front. But Volkswagen aficionados will immediately notice the lack of a split front windshield.

VW has been here before. In 2001 it showed another Microbus concept. But that never made production. Why come sniffing around the idea a decade later? Well the 2001 car was too big for Europe, so would have sold in the US only and they couldn't make a sound business out of it. This one is smaller so would fit the roads over here too.

It's about the same length as a Polo but wider than a Golf, with the wheels pushed right to the ends to give loads of space. And these same proportions wouldn't have to be diluted for production because it uses VW's new modular platform which can be made in all sorts of dimensions.

The outer and middle seat positions of the front bench seat can be folded down (2/3 split); the rear beach seat, meanwhile, can be completely stowed. When the rear bench seat is stowed, cargo capacity increases to 1,600 liters. In addition – and here the new Bulli is reminiscent of its legendary ancestor – the seat system can be transformed into a large reclining surface with just a few manual movements. This turns the compact MPV into a compact camper – the ultimate companion for a weekend trip.

At least as important for many users, however, is that the seating system should not only be versatile but also offer maximum comfort. The seat position is comfortably high and is equally relaxing. As an added benefit, it offers an optimized view forward as well. And that is how it was in the T1 too. Contributing to peace of mind aboard today’s vehicle is the fact that the new era Bulli is equipped with all conceivable safety features. And that is the crucial difference: the car has essentially been reinvented since the days of the first T1 aka the Bulli aka the Microbus.

Price 2012 Hyundai Genesis

The 2012 Hyundai Genesis sedan is due a facelift, a bigger and more powerful V-8, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. For technology and performance, those changes should elevate this already-laudable luxury four-door into the upper echelon of the premium-sedan segment. It’s already a fierce competitor on price. Whether freshened styling, availability of more than 400 horsepower, and a state-of-the-art transmission are enough to pull buyers out of a Mercedes E-Class instead of merely over from a Buick Lucerne is another matter. Meanwhile, the 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe (essentially a shortened, sportier version of the better-selling sedan) is also in line for some styling and powertrain updates.

Both the 4-cylinder and V6 engines are slated to get upgrades, although exactly how extensive they will be is not yet clear. It’s not hard to speculate that the 2.0T model could gain the Sonata Turbo’s new engine, prompting a significant increase in power from 210-hp to 274-hp. That would come very close to the 3.8-liter V6′s 306-hp number, suggesting it would also have to receive a major update, be it through naturally aspirated means, forced induction, or a switch to a V8. Past reports have already indicated the company’s new 5.0-liter V8 will replace the current 3.8L V6, producing a rather significant 429-hp.

Hyundai’s most powerful engine ever
The heart of the new Genesis 5.0 R-Spec model is a 5.0-liter ‘Tau’ V-8 engine with direct injection technology producing 429 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 376 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm. Even with its extra displacement and performance, the 5.0-liter mill nearly matches the current 4.6 V-8 in fuel economy, returning an estimated 16 mpg city and 25 mpg highway versus the 4.6’s 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

Sending drive to the rear wheels is Hyundai’s new in-house developed eight-speed automatic transmission. The two additional ratios help to enhance acceleration, shifting smoothness, and transmission efficiency by 6.0 percent over the former six-speed. The advanced transmission also gets paddle-shifters for pseudo manual control and is standard across the 2012 Hyundai Genesis range.

Review 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Spider

Review 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Spider

The forthcoming Amelia Island event by RM Auctions next month will feature the sale of one of the greatest prewar sports cars in the collector car market today. The vehicle in question is a rare 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport example, estimated to fetch between $1,100,000-$1,500,000.

Featuring a lightweight Zagato bodywork, the vehicle is fitted with a 85 bhp, 1,752 cc supercharged DOHC inline six-cylinder engine, four-speed manual gearbox, solid front and live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel drum brakes.

One of the largest changes introduced with the 4th series Gran Sport was a modified Roots-type supercharger that operated at engine speed and with larger rotors. With no step gear, it ran slower and therefore spun the opposite direction which relocated the carburetor from the left to the right side of the manifold.1
With its supercharger, the 1750 Gran Sport was an invincible race car, one with ample torque for its small chassis. The supercharger was a necessary ingredient that allowed the 1750 to be light, yet powerful, a characteristic that contributed to less driver fatigue and less stress on individual components. It was somewhat rare on sports cars of the period but was proven effective with the 1929 Super Sport. For the Gran Sport the engines main bearings also increased in size.1

In competition, the 6C-1750 was quite possibly the most successful car/chassis ever manufactured by Alfa Romeo. In addition to winning the 1929 Mille Miglia, twenty-five out of twenty-six supercharged 1750s completed the 1000 mile course. During the 1930 Mille Miglia, the 1750 would sweep the first four places in the race and would become known for an epic 6C-1750 duel between Nuvolari and Varzi. Nuvolari overtook Varzi in the pre-dawn with his 1750's headlights switched off and continued to win the race with a finishing time of 6 hours 18 minutes 59 seconds (averaging 62.78 mph) making the 6C-1750 the first car to ever complete the 1000 mile Mille Miglia Race averaging over 100 kph.

Other victories included the 1929 and 1930 24-Hours of Spa, 1930 Tourist Trophy, several World Speed Records (2000cc class) at Montlhery, France in 1931 (including 1000 kilometers @ 97.1 mph, 4000 Mile Record @ 93.97 mph and 48 Hour Record @ 94.4 mph) as well as winning numerous other Road Races, and Hillclimbs.

The current owner, a noted collector in his own right, has been absolutely pleased with the car’s rally abilities. For long distance driving, he has fitted a custom made sling to alleviate the leg fatigue caused by the centre throttle pedal and put the steering wheel into the second, more comfortable, driving position – neither of which has modified the car in any way. On the button and perfectly sorted, it is ready for a fourth Mille Miglia entry!

2012 Ford Focus Feature

The 2012 Ford Focus will be different in a number of ways, but the biggest is how it will be launched in the U.S and Europe at the same time – something that did not happen with the current Fiesta. The Detroit automaker has a lot riding on this car, as we all know how competitive the hatchback market is. We have known the specs for some time now, but only now are some auto websites getting the chance to review this latest addition to the Blue Oval family.

Zach Bowman from Autoblog notes that the first and most important thing is how the new 2010 Ford Focus will compare to the likes of the Hyundai Elantra and Chevrolet Cruze; both of which have managed to put the fear up Honda and Toyota with the Civic and Corolla respectively. The current Focus has been popular in the UK for years now, so you would assume that the new-generation model would do as well. However, I was a little shocked when I watched last Sundays episode of Top gear, where all three presenters agreed that it did not offer much and was just plain boring.

The Focus will offer many features not often seen in compact cars, including blind-spot alert, automated parallel parking and a rear-view camera. The turbocharged Focus ST cranks the excitement up several notches with around 245 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission. The suspension and stability control were re-tuned to provide better handling and control than is customary in high-powered front-wheel drive cars.

At the rear, there’s an independent multilink suspension, and at the front, the ABS has been tricked to serve as a limited-slip diff. On gyrating Route 94, the Focus offered gratifyingly precise turn-in and steady path control. Just as Ford promised, the damping rates felt similar to the A3’s, lending the car an agile, button-downed, purposeful persona. Note, however, that we sampled only the Titanium handling package ($595), with its heftier bars, springs, and 18-inch rubber.

Too bad the Focus’s steering doesn’t more faithfully replicate the A3’s. As is true with many manufacturers, Ford is still coming to grips with electrically assisted steering, “endlessly mixing and matching 250 programmable parameters,” as one engineer somewhat wearily put it. The steering is adequately weighted and satisfactorily accurate—with a column adjustment for reach and rake—but there’s a steady whiff of artificiality about it, not to mention a quickness just off-center that may pester persnickety pilots.
