Kia is currently preparing the latest crossover compact car to rival the Mazda CX-3 and Honda HR-V. Speaking to Motoring, COO Kia Australia. Damien Meredith justify on the new model is intended as a direct rival of the CX-3 and HR-V.
The plan challenger car CX-3 and HR-V will debut in L.A Auto Show 2016 Detroit Auto Show or compact Crossover 2017. This takes the base Kia Rio, and Meredith admits that it might have an impact on the growth of sales of Rio.
As the CX-3 were killed Mazda2 in North America. "We are well prepared to the effect that will occur in Rio. The new model should be coming into the market and do what needs to be done on a segment of the CX-3 and HR-V segment," he said.
Kia models currently do not have an official name, but is believed to take inspiration from Provo Kia concept, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show 2013.
Further, the compact crossover Kia also be repositioned when receiving refresher, which will include the addition of a turbocharged variant. Generation Kia Rio is also reportedly going to debut at the Paris Motor Show 2016 in October.
